Message from Tournament Director

Gearing up to the tournament dates, the committee is excited with the many positive changes and new activities that will be collaborated during the week-long international tournament in September. The last newsletter carried names from the international women's tennis arena confirmed to partake in this largest WTA tournament in South East Asia and we shall be seeing more names pop up as time gets closer.

This edition shares some of the new activities and updates that you will find and be able to participate in this September. So remember to mark the dates of 9 - 16 th September so you don't miss out on all the fun off the courts and on the courts!

JELENA JANKOVIC
Jelana Jankovic, Sony Ericsson WTA ranked number 3 in the world has confirmed to partake in the September tournament in Bali . Tennis fans will have the opportunity to see her strength and styles on the courts, she is considered as one of the best tennis playes in the world due to her prestigious achievements. With 4 SE WTA Tour single titles and 1 SE WTA Tour Doubles title during her tennis career, this young 22 year old (born 28 February 1985) considers herself competitive, friendly and well organized. Coached by her father, Veselin Jankovic, the greatest appeal of being a pro for her is seeing the world and learning about different cultures. Jelana was introduced to tennis at a tender age of 9 years and admires Monica Seles. Watch her play for the Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic in September and she will prove her professional style of tennis is only on par to the world's best.

School Invasion from Bank Commonwealth
As a part of the many missions of Bank Commonwealth , this year, the tournament will work closer with community members in Bali , especially the younger generation. The title sponsor will invade the schools in Bali . Obviously in a very positive way, where a select number of schools in Bali will get the opportunity to enjoy the facilities and activities surrounding the tennis tournament. Access to students from these schools is by free ground passes. The core of this activity is to collaborate positive exposure for educational development, as sports is an active subject for the development of educational studies. The event commences in July and schools will be selected based on the standard level of student's knowledge which will include international schools in Bali .
